Two attorneys with Smith Law Group, P.C. have been selected to Thomson Reuters’ 2014 Texas Super Lawyers list in the area of appellate law. The list will be published in the October 2014 issue of Texas Monthly.
One honoree is D. Todd Smith, the firm’s founder and managing shareholder, who practices from its principal office in Austin. The other is Brandy Wingate Voss, who joined the firm in 2011 and heads its Rio Grande Valley office. Both Smith and Voss are former Texas Supreme Court clerks, began their post-clerkship careers with large firms, and are certified as specialists in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Voss’s honor is especially noteworthy, as she is one of a select few attorneys to appear on both the Texas Super Lawyers list and the companion Texas Rising Stars list (focusing on lawyers under age 40) during the same year.
“I’m humbled to have been chosen alongside some great lawyers, and I’m especially proud of Brandy for being included at a relatively early stage of her career,” Smith said. “To me, this confirms that we’re succeeding in our goal of building a top-level appellate law firm.”
Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The list is compiled annually by following a patented multi-phase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. Fewer than five percent of all Texas lawyers are named to the list each year.[post_footer]
